If you are on contest side and SEO, you have already heard about this globalwarming awareness2007 search engine optimization contest. Though I have also participated but never expecting to be at the top. Here are some info about it.

But what make me think that I don’t have that power to win this race? Hmmn, simple, analyzing the results on search engines.

Let me check the index results, upon searching for this phrase i have seen results of dmoz editor profile having a link back on globalwarming awareness2007 page. These is interesting, can I ask how much?

Next, checking in backlinks of the entries. This is very interesting to know that there are entries with already 50k backlinks if you check yahoo site explorer on that particular entry. With a short period of time, wow that is a lot. One having a link back on high PR site, too bad I don’t have enough to pay for that link. High PR links means high ranking on search.

And why trusted site is also being indexed on globalwarming awareness2007 keyword? One of which is wikipedia, EPA, NRDC and other sites? That in fact, when the keyword first announced it was not present on the search engines? Strange eh? Nope, it was not. Why? Because entries to this keyword competition is mentioning this sites on their content and linking that site on their entry page. That is why. But this is good also for at least this trusted sites are the one on top and will not mess up the information it actually brings in.
