Going into the problem, all categories was replaced by 2,2,2 and so on. What? Luckily enough I have a back-up that will save the day by manually placing those values on categories and blogroll links. I am trying out some ad serving network and check how effective or calculating the difference in terms of revenue this blog can get without including adsense. Though I am still running adsense on other sites and still generating enough to sustain all of my sites, in the end it might migrate to others who can provide the sustainability of all my sites and not from my own benefit.

If you are using wordpress 2.3 or 2.5, you don’t need to have an .htaccess code to redirect your non-www site to www to avoid duplicate urls. the latest version of wordpress is already doing this and already incorporated on the code of WP. This is far that I have seen when i have implemented it on my of my blog.

What are the consequences of this if you again redirect the latest wordpress that is already redirecting the site to www version? Remember DMOZ? when their main page was out of the google index. They are redirecting permanently the www version to their own www version of the site, 301 redirect. That means if bot is going into the site www version it is again being redirected to its www version leaving bot to give up on an infinite loop of redirection.

This scenario happened to me and only then I have noticed when I checked and removed the www but still redirecting it to www version.

Resolution: Removed the line on .htaccess permanent redirect (301) to www and let the  alone the hardcode piece on Wordpress. The site now back to index.

In a bid to remain independent, Yahoo plans to reject Microsoft Corp.’s unsolicited takeover offer.Quoting sources familiar with the situation, the Journal reports that Yahoo’s board feels the offer of $31 per share “massively undervalues” the company. A letter spelling out the position is expected to be sent Monday. Yahoo also expressed concern that Microsoft’s offer does not account for risks to Yahoo should the deal be overturned by regulators.

The Journal source said the company would be unwilling to consider an offer below $40 per share, which would represent a $12 billion increase over Microsoft’s original $44.6 billion bid. It is unclear if Microsoft would be willing to increase its bid by such a significant amount.

If Microsoft is eager to buy Yahoo then a bid to up to $50 billion can make again Yahoo into hot seat to re-consider the offer. The possibility stands as we analyze how Microsoft willing to take over the next search engine giant.

Microsoft Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell said the software company may issue some debt to finance the cash portion of its 50-50 stock and cash offer for Yahoo, instead of drawing down its entire $21 billion cash pile.

“It’s likely we’re actually going to borrow for the first time,” said Liddell in an annual strategy meeting with analysts before Yahoo’s apparent decision. “It’s going to be a mixture of the cash we have on hand plus debt.”

They are about to migrate all google accounts to use the same account on all services powered by Google according to their blog to clarify some issues during log-in.

1. On adwords and adsense issue, this might be not a good option, we know very well how a certain email account can be compromised. I have experienced this a year ago thus not actually having the same log-in password over the net.

The time I heard about this new feature on Paypal Philippines to add or withdraw to a local bank account, I immediately check and add my bank account and tried to withdraw the funds sitting on my paypal account. All I need was my bank account information including bank code that was posted by paypal on ebay site here (philippines bank codes). And more information here.

After 5 days of waiting to my bank, finally it arrived.

Length: 2 days -Paypal Philippines said that my withdrawal process is complete. Means fund depends now on the processing on my bank to clear it.

3 days – Funds now in my account with Payroll as the memo on the deposit.

Paypal charges 50 Php or around $1.2 on withdrawal fees below Php 7,000. My bank also charges around 100 Php total of 150 Php. While online advertising growth continues, there are significant benefits of scale in advertising platform economics, in capital costs for search index build-out, and in research and development, making this a time of industry consolidation and convergence. Today, the market is increasingly dominated by one player who is consolidating its dominance through acquisition. Together, Microsoft and Yahoo! can offer a credible alternative for consumers, advertisers, and publishers. Synergies of this combination fall into four areas:

Scale economics: This combination enables synergies related to scale economics of the advertising platform where today there is only one competitor at scale. This includes synergies across both search and non-search related advertising that will strengthen the value proposition to both advertisers and publishers. Additionally, the combination allows us to consolidate capital spending.

Expanded R&D capacity: The combined talent of our engineering resources can be focused on R&D priorities such as a single search index and single advertising platform. Together we can unleash new levels of innovation, delivering enhanced user experiences, breakthroughs in search, and new advertising platform capabilities. NetAudioAds will begin pushing live ads out to their audio ad distribution network.Audio ads will NOT begin playing everywhere at the same time. This will be a slow, methodical ramp up until NaetAudioAds is playing ads to the complete network.Do not panic if you are not hearing audio ads right away. We are on course for what NetAudioAds is calling a soft launch. As the days progress after launch tomorrow, more and more ads will begin playing covering a wider and wider percentage of the distribution network.

So it will not instantly play if you have registered to be a publisher. There are estimating it to be of full launch about 30-60 days after this soft start.

They have also added a new function on their system.

Competing Ads…

NetAudioAds is adding a function where you can opt out from running certain kinds of audio ads on your website such as competitor ads. You will be able to do this by specifying the name or keyword of competitors (or ads) that you DO NOT want running on individual pages of your website.

You can also include keywords of ads that you DO want running on your site. This is all very preliminary and will develop over time.

I wonder how will the blogosphere or site owners go into this launch and the success of their network and including the visitors or readers of the sites if they hear some audio ads on their favorite sites.

Just as today, I have received a comment on one of a blog post from Aurelius Tjin, about an article on Doing many Projects as what I am doing now. My day job not on any marketing or seo field that is far from the subject actually having this scenario. I was overrun with too many projects that at end point not finishing any on a certain day and just redo everything from the start the day after the chaos.

So what I have done if my boss pass some project to me, try to classify it according. Is it urgent and important? Is it urgent but NOT important? Is it important but not urgent? And not important and not urgent at all. You can basically pin point the difference of those especially the question 2 and 3.

Also make use of a tool to track your progress and activity list to ensure that you are at the target. If you know how to use Microsoft Project, it is a good tool for creating a Project Plan.

Starting Feb. 1, San Diego-based V2P Communications is offering five-to-eight-second audio ads, called NetAudioAds, that will automatically play when a visitor lands on a blog or Web site. Publishers sign up for the free service and V2P then lines up advertisers, who bid on rates they will pay to have their ads played on a given blog. Bids generally start around $14 per 1,000 plays. Blog publishers get a 25% cut of the ad revenue.

This basically an additional income generating system to your site. The question is how far, they can survive in this fast emerging advertising industry that as far most dominated by Google? That I am sure will also be implemented by Google and other advertising Media at a later time.

My thoughts would be the number of advertisers that will be using their site versus the number of publishers they are at now. On focus point about audio or sound device has been turned off on visitors machine, visitors don’t have to click to hear the audio (good for publishers, but not enough for advertisers).

The pain at my end, oh well. And now checking in the possibility of how do they know the necessary information that even one of my yahoo account got compromised? Best suggestion would be domain.com/category/sub-category/product.html rather than script generated url with domain.com/catlisting=&list?phpsessionid=&listingnumbers. Though search engine still finds and indexed that session id’s url, but it is much preferred without those session id. Good inner pages interlinking should be done also accordingly. Observe good navigation for visitors convenience.

Keywords or Key Phrase

Vary keywords or key phrase accordingly. Each product listing should have a different title, description and keyword associated with. Don’t rely on single keyword list, better do a varying keyword that will include the main page key phrase.

Linking

On promotion, and keyword backlinks, as suggested above, a keyword rich backlinks with varying term associated with the product is recommended. Example, if you want to rank for “iphone”, you can have “iphone resources” “iphone store” or maybe “cheap and best iphone store”. One of the biggest challenges with relevancy is how to distinguish legitimate information from various forms of search spam. Anyway, here are recommendation to get rid of that penalty.

In order to stay within Google’s quality guidelines, paid links should be disclosed through a “rel=nofollow” or other techniques such as doing a redirect through a page which is robot.txt’ed out.

But we back to the idea of going into the battle without any defense nor ammunition to kill the enemies. What if bullets hit you hard? Or what if spam hit you hard enough, can you still stand? If you are running on a free blog hosted site, yes or maybe.

You can do this if you can have that luxury of time to delete all those spams. If you are a full time blogger (not me, I have a day job). Make your choice, how long/fast can you delete spam comments (might be worth to be a record in guiness), or maybe can your mouse and keyboard survive on click delete (irony on the block).

Maybe I will try it on new year’s eve and hope spammer’s will hold a no spam day also on that day. lol

So which is better? Most of the webmasters are craving for Pagerank for business purposes. Pagerank made its recognition much all over the internet world. WebRank was born way back 2004 I believe to compete but have not been into the half in terms of Google’s Pagerank popularity.

Now we have DomainRank from MSN or Live, as you know you can check it if you have a webmaster account on live where you can have your site evaluated and check the statistics similar to google webmaster tools. Competition is really going into search engine.

Well at least we see how our site is being measured on the search and we are learning on how we can please and make that rank (whatever it is) better.

This is not also based on speculation or theory with the word “it might” or “it can” drop your site to a ranking. So what I do in the experiment is to have one of my site with PR4 to have an incoming links to my other website in one day all having a PR range from 0-5. All have been added manually sitewide without a script.

My site experiment formerly ranking at the top 10 on a certain keyword and after 3 days of triggering search engine to check if penalty is true, I have just said “Hey search engine ban me”!

It happened in just 3 days, my site is out of ranking in the top 10 for my targeted key phrase and it is way below 100 rank results in google and other search engine. I know this is so lousy to think but I don’t need that PR4 site, I will set it to expire the early of 2008 due to bad domain name, just registered way back this early 2007 but gained a PR4 with only few links and social bookmarks.

Yay, don’t feed crawlers too much links in a day, at least add it one site wide per week if the domain you are having a sitewide link have thousands of index pages in search engines.

Don’t try it at your own site, try it on your competitor site(just kidding)!

So I decided to use another plug-in in conjunction with defensio that promise to blog this automated spam bots from commenting. Let us see if it will break the defensio plug-in and and also eliminate some of these spams.

We want the center and the blog to be a place for two way communication between Live Search and the webmaster community because we understand that SEO’s and webmasters need this kind of information and the tools we are building to keep their sites performing well.

If you want to know what is happening at their end you can also check the blog dedicated for this service. I have just added a site to this system and let us see how it performs and what needs to be done and included on their tool. It needs you to add a file similar to other webmaster tools with an authentication tag.

I have just submitted this blog and see that the top performing inlink to my site is coming from an edu site? But then I don’t get traffic from that site, thus this mean live search is favoring a .edu?

So what you do is optimize your site not just for your visitors but also for the spiders to crawl you site.

Navigation

Navigation makes it easy for both visitors and bots to run down on your site contents. What it has to offer and how I can find pages on your site from your home page.  I don’t think one will put navigation button link at the footer of the page where visitors needs to scroll way down just to go to a certain page.

Deeplink

How deep your site link is? The best approach is to have just one (1) to two (2) clicks away from your home page but can still go up to 3 to 4 deep from your main page. Spiders can easily index pages those pages that is few pages relative to homepage. Example, domain.com/page1.html can be index and crawled than that of domain.com/directory/page/content/page1.html. Though search engine can still indexed it and find it, but the priority would be that of near to the main page.

Sitemap

Sitemap plays a big role on site navigation, searches, spider and its importance to your niche. How each page points to your site main content.

 Emphasize Content

Emphasize content rather than  targeting other factors like monetization and neon color designs, etc.

Clean content and url’s 

Clean content without those keyword stuff, cloak or other factors and clean url’s by removing those session id making it hard for your spiders and visitors to remember those pages they have visited.

Notice that I can even highlight the text below the ad title and the space between ads is not clickabel and only the title and url of the site is clickable.

With this, it seems that it will limit accidental clicks if the ads are place near to an image or navigation links. Or another scenario, adsense is trying to cut those publishers revenue through accidental clicks. Good for advertisers! Bad for publishers!

There are still spam that able to penetrate using akismet system not that much though because we know there is no perfect system to combat this spam. Defensio created their system to have a defense that can eliminate spam using a defense threshold level where you can set on how strong your anti-spam campaign would be.

Going back to the question, getting it hold until spammers made its own tweak to break this plug-in. You cannot just disable your comment because this can kill your visitors and users participation on the subject. So better yet, even anti-spam plug-in is installed you have to moderate comments in order for you to manually check for valid and spam. Getting a manual work on a blog needs hard work was it? Not everything can be done automatically.

We will observe and check a graphical representation on this new anti-spam plug-in again if we observe a significant comparison between the two. You can download defensio here.

Getting into the topic, on this blog, I still have those links as follow and never responded to that google pagerank decreasing update. As long as I get those traffic and visitors, why should I give them a no follow attribute? They are the ones giving life to this blog by giving the support to renew this domain and hosting.

Traffic is important because that is the target why we do search engine optimization or seo for our site. Though some clients look at the pagerank of the site you are managing, it doesn’t matter to me, because bringing traffic to clients site is the objective and products being sold. But if clients wants to do page rank boost, then that is another side of the story.  Or maybe just redirect that to a high PR site (just kidding).

1. Feed scraper individual keeps on posting or copying the blog content via feeds.

2. The snippet of those scraper site have no-follow on them.

3. Feed scraper is publishing all content and removing the source of the post.

What is the consequences of this?

1. Getting duplicate content from search engine especially google if the other site is publishing it also in full without a link back.

2. The possibility of outranking your site by this feed scraper on search engines.

3. Your effort of writing the content has been degraded.

I have emailed the sites publishing my content without even giving me credits and let me see how they react. Any further suggestions you can give?

Hope to see some comments and get that luxury of being the top commenter and display your site at the sidebar for a month period. But take note that I still have to moderate the comments even if the akismet plug-in is installed due to the fact that it is not perfect on catching those spammers and getting into the system.

I don’t like to disclose the url of the site to protect my client and other sites listed on that key phrase result. My clients is appearing at the first page of google.ca and still appearing on the succeeding search result pages. It also appears to change its rankings few ranks below its original position.

I am trying to check if there is something in the site itself that is drawing this kind of result of just maybe a google search result bug. I know already few months that this is happening but wonder why google taking them long correct this result.

Or maybe I am just blind or both of my eyeballs are trying to contract at the center.

Update: This is just to update, that I was wrong in the sense of this post, I have re-check again. When I have search google, I have set the parameters to 10 results per page. Thus those indented listing is being listed on the next coming page. But if you set the number of results to say 20 or 100, it will only show 1 main link result with indented listing. I am just too exhausted with work.

Traffic is going strong but it seems that feedburner is decreasing from 56 down to 47. Anyway, I was still on posting using my mobile phone, that I was in a vacation for a week visiting my hometown.

For now we focus on the some Yahoo search operators that are somehow mentioned on yahoo blog. Let us start with finding all site pages. So we type in the search blog site: [domain]. Example, site:www.allseocontest.com. So all indexed pages of will be shown that is being directed to site explorer now. If you are concerned about what sites in the net your own web site or page have link or linking back to your page, you may use link:[domain] operator. Example, link:www.allseocontest. You will find sites or websites that are linking to your page. There are other operators actually on Yahoo for your search needs and you probably know better than I am as a webmaster so we focus on some individal just searching something.

We want to know the definition of one term. In google you can use define: term and it will give you sites defining the term. Yahoo has a similar feature by using definition of term or define term. Example, define search. It will give you definition of the term search.Or maybe looking for document with file type, you can use keyword originurlextension:file type.Example: algorithm originurlextension:pdf, will search for site having an extension of .pdf with the word algorithm.

There are other yahoo search operator you can use that you can find it useful for your daily search needs. You can find some at ysearchblog with some excerpts below

Traffic is still important, as long as traffic is coming in without dropping due to this Pagerank change, I see no significant issue on websites. Traffic is a measurement of your marketing and SEO, Pagerank is a measurement on how you spray perfume on your site to please Google Algo.
