On my last post I have mentioned about Busby SEO Test as the new contest on search engine optimization. Though I have never worked out for my entry to this contest, I am still looking at the results on google and check how the sites ranks that high for the keywords.
With this you can basically learn new things. One is to know where those guys are getting their backlinks. Second is how they optimize their pages not just for links. Third, the dirty tricks they are employing to their competitors.
It is normal in the contest, let your competitor be down while having your site up to grab their position. Blackhat!

I think you are missing the point. There is TONS to be learned from someone who is on page 1 for a specific term – and they don’t even need to tell you about it. Treat it as a case study and then start working backwards. I’ll bet you get great ideas studying how he did that.
