Jotspot has been re-launch now sitting on Google sites.
Google Sites is the latest offering from Google Apps, a suite of
products designed to improve communication and collaboration
amongst employees, students, and groups. Google Sites makes
creating a team web site as easy as editing a document. You can
quickly gather a variety of information in one place — including
videos, calendars, presentations, attachments, and gadgets — and
easily share it for viewing or editing with a small group, their
entire organization, or the world.

Compared to Googlepages it has more features (naturally otherwise Google would not have acquired jotspot.) I am yet to check group editing capabilities.

SEO and backlinks, thanks for pointing that out may I know on what version, looks fine on firefox 2, not tested on firefox 3 though. Maybe because of the sidebar width

it is actually a collaboration of works of individual where one can update the site, I might be wrong since i have never used jotspot. it’s origianl url is jot.com

Google sites looks to be a great tools for aspiring webmasters, its also a great alternative to using a blog script such as wordpress.
I must admit I don’t know how the Jotspot works, but given its being marketing as user friendly, I can only assume it will be straight forward.
