I may be way off the mark (or not paying attention to corporate blarb) but what makes such a bid unsolicited? Don't we live in a free world economy?

There seems to be a recurring pattern for Yahoo, to be left standing at the altar. Wasn't but a few years ago they were being considered by Disney, Ebay and several others. There is no denying the power of brands, and when it comes to the internet Yahoo is second only to Google, maybe.

From day 1 it didn't look like this deal would go through. I doubt Google was even too concerned. I was a strong supporter of Yahoo not selling out and am happy with this news.

I do not believe that the curtain has come down finally in this story. There is likely to be new developments in the next few months.

I am sure Google would be very happy with the turn around. I am two minds whether the deal should have struck or not.
