It is all over the news about Microsoft dropping their bid to Yahoo for $42.3 Billion or $31 per share. Press release have be out for both big gunners about the dismantled deal.

Microsoft Corp. withdrew its $42.3 billion bid to buy Yahoo Inc. on Saturday, scrapping an attempt to snap up the tarnished Internet icon in hopes of toppling online search and advertising leader Google Inc.
ADVERTISEMENTThe decision to walk away from the deal came after last-ditch efforts to negotiate a mutually acceptable sale price proved unsuccessful.But Yahoo’s board demanded at least $53 billion, or $37 per share, according to Ballmer. That would have been nearly double Yahoo’s stock price of $19.18 at the time Microsoft first made its bid a little over three months ago

I am sure Google would be very happy with the turn around. I am two minds whether the deal should have struck or not.

I do not believe that the curtain has come down finally in this story. There is likely to be new developments in the next few months.

From day 1 it didn’t look like this deal would go through. I doubt Google was even too concerned. I was a strong supporter of Yahoo not selling out and am happy with this news.

Its a shame, I’d have really liked to have seen what Microsoft could have brought to the web with the aqusition of Yahoo.

There seems to be a recurring pattern for Yahoo, to be left standing at the altar. Wasn’t but a few years ago they were being considered by Disney, Ebay and several others. There is no denying the power of brands, and when it comes to the internet Yahoo is second only to Google, maybe.
