Oh no, I will be bombarded by reactions, how I wish, lol, seriously speaking into the issue of pagerank, why I have made the title as pagerank algorithm or pagerank is for link businessman. Why? Looking around at most of the webmasters forum or seo forum, they are all craving for the pagerank update. Here are some reasons that I have spotted on,
1. Lost of text link sales due to pagerank not yet being updated by google. They are waiting for the pagerank to update to see their actual pagerank based on predicted one.
2. Lost blog post sales due again to pagerank.
3. Directory listing slow sales also due to pagerank. But checking at some forums or webmasters forums, some webmasters are trying to purchase an expired PR domains and building directory to it. Well, check this first before listing your site on this directories. I hope you know how to use the whois tool.
4. Delay of domain sales based on PR.
5. Delay of Site Sale based on PR.
There are other reasons why pagerank is a business overriding the context and principle governed on the Pagerank algorithm itself. Simple term abused. I have no intention of arguing to webmaster’s doing such things ( i have done it in the past), but then arguing to the search engine doing business for us in not a good thing. Why? They can kill our business, all they need is push button and bang! our site is not anymore on their index!
To my other visitors not into webmaster’s or seo per se, and don’t know what pagerank is you can check the site about pagerank on google itself.
PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at considerably more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; for example, it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves “important” weigh more heavily and help to make other pages “important.” Using these and other factors, Google provides its views on pages’ relative importance.
And also the patent involved in the algorithm of pagerank which is not patented on google but on Stanford University.
If you want to build links to your site, take a look into the traffic as stated on my previous post here. Why? Traffic is the one bringing us sales and business. Pagerank also doesn’t do much on your site ranking on search engine based on the example given on my blog post above. Think traffic not pagerank.
