Why you should set aside Google Pagerank on doing SEO or search engine optimization to your site? You are not Pagerank addict right? So why concentrate on pagerank especially on link building if you are not yet setting in your site’s content? Even if you buy high PR links, do you think the owner of that high PR link will sell you a link if your site don’t have content? Oh, there are, but if you are a serious webmaster and concentrating mainly on the quality of contents you bring to visitors, I don’t think you will get one.
Though Pagerank measures the popularity of the page or your site and its relevance, this should not be basis doing search engine optimization to your site. Most of the time Pagerank refers to the site popularity inbound links, its quality and quantity per se, and that clearly means you are only doing an off-page optimization. SEO is not always about off-page optimization, it also deals with on page optimization. Bringing in search engine bots and human visitors understand your site. SEO is about ranking on most search engine on its results based on the keyword or key phrase users searching into the engine.
One major proof is that even a low PR site can outranked high PR sites when you search for specific terms. Check my google sample result below. I have search for the term “used car” without quotes.
The first site listed has a PR of 6 and the second site has a PR of 8. So it doesn’t matter how high your PR was, but it is how content is relevant your site on the search phrase. What does this mean on SEO?
Simple, content is still the main attraction on search engine optimization, it is one element on the so called on-page optimization.
In doing SEO, think google pagerank last, it will come when you need it at the right time.
