With the recent pagerank update hitting large websites or shall we say popular websites, will google finally made up their mind to eradicate its patented Pagerank? Post have been circulated already in the industry about Pagerank dropping on some popular site. Search Engine Land Post, focusing on hitting the sites who sells links, Aaron Wall of SEOBook, stressing on the traffic importance over PR, which I believe is the way to go, Problogger, hitting a PR drop from PR6 to PR4.
There are other sites and adding news sites to the list of Pagerank dropping scenario and other bloggers like andybeard and copyblogger. Question is with this move from Google, is this there their way of removing completely pagerank by dropping down first the Pagerank of the sites and with few months will totally remove it?
I have also manually check the rankings of those site, as Aaron Wall mentioned on his blog, with some keyword samples and rankings stayed the same on the results. This also brings into an assumption that maybe time Pagerank will no longer mentioned on webmaster sites.
Traffic is still important, as long as traffic is coming in without dropping due to this Pagerank change, I see no significant issue on websites. Traffic is a measurement of your marketing and SEO, Pagerank is a measurement on how you spray perfume on your site to please Google Algo.
